Bring your camera to capture the catch of a lifetime!

For activities on the Blackfeet Reservation, each person needs a conservation permit. The cost is $20.00. Blackfeet Nation Fish and Wildlife conservation permits are available through: The Blackfeet Nation Recreation Pass Website

Foothills, valleys, and peaks dominate the landscape of the Blackfeet Reservation and the Badger Two Medicine Forest south of Glacier National Park. The Badger Two Medicine borders the renowned Bob Marshall Wilderness. For the Badger Two Medicine Backcountry Adventures, be prepared to hike, horseback ride, or mountain bike in steep mountainous terrain and through possible river crossings in various unpredictable weather conditions including snow and wind. The land terrain in Montana varies greatly from deep draws, coulees, and rock structures. We are careful not to take hikers, horseback riders, or mountain bike riders into areas that are any more than they can handle in terms of physical skills.

Poor planning and inadequate preparation leads to increased risks and dangers while hiking, horseback riding, rafting, and mountain biking. Being physically prepared is of prime importance. Consider bringing plenty of warm clothing that can be layered. Remember wild game animals live here. Be mindful of extreme changes in temperature and weather conditions. High altitudes and rugged terrain presents its own challenges. Animals including domestic horses and mules, and wild animals can be unpredictable and dangerous to hikers, horseback riders, rafters, or mountain bike riders; all beyond the control of the outfitter.

Please adhere to specific direction from Blackfeet Outfitters. Our outfitter and guides are trained to identify dangerous conditions.

Many of our trips take place in the wilderness backcountry. Our clients should be healthy to partake in physical activity at higher elevations. Clients with specific medical conditions should consult with their physician before booking a trip.

Please inform us of any medical conditions, dietary requests, and/or allergies.

This is for the safety of our clients, guides, and other employees. If you decide that you need or want a drink during the day, that’s fine, but you will be done participating in the tour for the day.

  • What is your proficiency at hiking, horseback riding, or mountain biking?
  • Am I looking for a wilderness experience or a ranch-type of touring experience?
  • How important is it to stay in a nice camp?
  • Am I prepared to stay in the wilderness without the creature comforts of home?

Ideally, the best time to fish is mid-spring to late fall on the Reservation. The hatches on the rivers and lakes promote more fish activity throughout the day.

Because the weather is ever-changing, be prepared for all kinds of weather. It is important to bring rain gear and layers of warm clothing including jackets, warm hats, broad brimmed hat, and gloves. Temperatures can range from the 30’s to 60’s in early spring and late fall, and range from the 60’s to 90’s in the summer.

Bring polarized sunglasses, sun screen, lip balm, waders, and wading boots. In the heat of the summer, shorts are fine. Our best advice is to be prepared for all kinds of weather. Bring a camera to capture those great memories of catching a giant Rainbow or Brown trout!

Blackfeet Outfitters has a variety of fly rods for your use from 4, 5, 6, and 7 weight rods. We also provide the flies and tackle that you will need. You are welcome to bring your own if you wish. If you don’t have waders or wading boots, you can rent them at the local fly shops in the area. We do not provide waders and boots.

  • The state of Montana requires that you purchase a fishing license which can be purchased at any fly shop, sporting goods store, or online. If you plan to fish on the Blackfeet Reservation, you will have to purchase a Tribal conservation license and fishing license in addition to a fishing license.
  • Blackfeet Nation Fish and Wildlife licenses and tags are available through Both Blackfeet Nation Recreation/Conservation Permit and Fishing License Required.
  • Blackfeet (Nation Recreation/Conservation Permit)[https://blackfeet.nagfa.net/online/]: $20.00
  • Non-member/Non-resident Fishing Permit: $20.00

We take our clients in drift boats that are designed for 2 anglers and one guide. If needed, we can get a 2nd boat for additional guests.

Amazing!

What an amazing business. Lee and I cannot wait to come and do a float trip with Alger. We were blessed to go on a tour with Alger and Jake Bash from Visit Great Falls. They are knowledgeable and just a joy to be around. They were accommodating to our time schedule and group. If you think of something you want to do outdoors I am sure that Alger can make it happen. Come enjoy the outdoors in Montana and spend some time with Blackfeet Outfitters.

Highly Recommended!

We rented a cabin after a complete camping fail nearby. Alger was unbelievably kind & generous to our group! He had everything set up & ready to go, even with our last second call for a cabin. He went above & beyond for us, & we'll forever be grateful for his hospitality! We highly recommend Blackfeet Outfitters & we cannot wait to go back! We felt like we left a friend, not a business owner, when we returned home! See you next trip Alger & all of our 4 legged friends!!

Wonderful Time!

I had a wonderful time on our 3 hour jeep tour on the Blackfeet reservation alongside Glacier National Park in Montana. Our driver and tour guide, Blackfeet tribe member Alger, was personable, friendly, accommodating and so very knowledgable. The scenery was gorgeous. Interacting with Alger felt more relevant and and authentic than the 6-hour Red Jeep tour run by Xanterra. I highly recommend this experience. Had I known that I could have stayed in a tee pee I would have done that as well.
